The Covid-19 related lockdown ended in France on May 11th and schools started reopening. France is exploring novel ways to maintain cooperation with India amid the Covid-19 crisis, especially in education, hiking the proportion of scholarships for this academic year by 50% equivalent to ₹10 crores. France is one of the most affordable destinations for higher education, with many high global standards offering more than 1,500 courses taught in English. Business and engineering programmes are the most sought after.
The country is geared to enable start of the academic year for new students through virtual classrooms, if necessary. Authorities are hoping students will be able to join their classes in France in autumn, if not September. The French embassy in India coordinating the questions of a group of French schools. International students mobility is still a priority in France. As of now, all the campus France offices have been conducting visa interviews remotely.
France is very confident in its preparedness for starting classroom sessions for September intake. Rennes School of Business proposes to conduct its courses simultaneously in class and online if someone could not join on time or any other reason. Additionally, students from MSc joining for September intake can also chose an extra diploma for only 1500 euros (either AI summer programme or a full semester of another MSc) as a way to compensate for the stressful time.
Schools are appointing a group of international student ambassadors that include dynamic Indian students. Colleges are adding courses for the January 2021 intake.
