GRE exam 2020: 3 simple tips to keep in mind while preparing for GRE
Here are some simple tips that you should keep in mind while preparing for GRE.
Getting into a good grad school is everyone’s dream. After long hours of preparation for your entrance exam and several coffee cups, here are 3 simple tips to keep in mind while you prepare for GRE.
The test is made up of three sections: Verbal Reasoning (reading comprehension), Quantitative Reasoning (mathematical comprehension), and Writing. The writing section is scored on a scale of 0 to 6 in half increments. The reading and math sections are scored on a scale between 130 and 170 in 1-point increments.
This means there are only 41 possible scores a student can get in these sections. So, answering just a few extra questions correctly can mean the difference between earning an average score and a great score!
Let’s take a look at the tips:
1. Plan your study schedule:
Acknowledge the process and format of the examination beforehand. Building a proper schedule, defining the number of hours you can give every day, and working on the plan positively is a significant task. Sometimes, it’s not possible to follow your schedule as expected due to other routine chores that might come your way. Try to indulge yourself as much as possible to perform at least 80% of your scheduled plan. This will keep you motivated at the end of the day when you finish your deadlines and mission on time. Schedule your study time and practice tests on your calendar and then keep those appointments with yourself. The same way you show up for class or work on time, you are going to “show up” for GRE studying on time.
2. Take GRE practice tests
Take practice tests to check your scores and performance. The practice tests help you analyse and work on the areas where you’re weak at. Also, it helps you to understand your strengths. These tests are highly motivating as they help you understand the format of the exam and the timing required to finish the paper. This will come in handy when you appear for the final exam.Practice makes a man perfect. The key to succeeding in exams is by thoroughly preparing for your exam. Taking these tests will boost up your confidence. Take the practice test under conditions as similar as possible to those you will experience on test day without distractions or interruptions. There are many free practice tests available on the internet that will ease the process.
3. Believe in yourself
This might sound very obvious, but this is something that will keep you up in the run. Make your motto “I Can and I Will”. The positive attitude helps you stay focused and away from any distraction or negativity that slows down your preparation. If you stick to your studying schedule and find a great test preparation resource, you’ll be on your way to test-taking success. If you study hard and have a great attitude, you can crush GRE.
